BRADIO RADIO: CLAIRO IS BACK AND MORE CHARMING THAN EVER

Indie singer-songwriter Clairo released her ’70s-inspired, third studio album Charm. She shared in the album announcement that the title references the popular phrase “third time’s the charm.”

In Charm, Clairo melds her debut bedroom pop style with jazzy elements. Her signature monotone vocal delivery is contrasted with groovy slide guitar and brass. 

The lush lead single “Sexy To Someone” set a clear precedent for the entirety of the project. All 11 tracks of Charm live on the same, somewhat redundant, plane without clear highs & lows. 

The key difference between songs is the hard-hitting lyrical content. Clairo introspectively tackles feelings of loneliness, desire, and fear. She illustrates a deeply personal narrative by navigating the complexities of young adulthood.
